:(
I am having problems running MSExcel (MSWord also) from Ceedo. It works normally on my home PC and on a couple of laptops I have tried it on. However, on my work PC (no Admin rights) the Excel splash screen shows with the "Green" border and then I get an error dialog box with no dialog(See attatched JPG).
The only thing I can think of is that the Excel executable is in a non standard location.
I have also tried Argo to create a specific shortcut to the location on my work PC . Same error.
I have sent my logs to Ceedo help. I'm just hoping the community might have some ideas too.
Thanks

Uhhh ... that would be MS Office 2003 according to the screenshot. :p Sorry, m'lord, I just couldn't resist. :D
Snoshrk, the issue is probably caused by a registry issue. I have the same type of issue on my Ceedo drive right now, and it's going to cost me to reinstall Ceedo and all my apps to fix it.
Did you try creating a non-hooked shortcut? If the MS Office app works on the host system, creating an NH shortcut should allow you to pull it up from Ceedo.

I can only say that my Ceedo Office links work from work. :)
My work Start Menu shortcuts point to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu" so I assume Ceedo is picking that up and utilizing it.
It would be nice to know exactly what Ceedo looks for to execute a profiled app. Since the corporate LAN location could be anything it must look for some desktop or Start Menu shortcut to key off of. Dunno...

To All: Thanks for the input...
Ok, I use Office 2003 at home and at work. At home everything is in the default install locations. At work, on the locked down PC from H LL, they are on a Applications Drive out on the network. I tried to create an NH shortcut to the location of the *.exe with no luck. I will try a NH shortcut to the links on the desktop. (keeping fingers crossed)...
I was going to reinstall ceedo tonight, but maybe I'll wait until after I try this tomorrow.:)

Snoshrk, the issue is probably caused by a registry issue. I have the same type of issue on my Ceedo drive right now, and it's going to cost me to reinstall Ceedo and all my apps to fix it.
Then your lucky, 'cause my freeagent Go HDD recently died due to Ceedo.. :D
It happened like this: Sometimes when I connect my Seagate FreeAgent HDD to computers, it seems to hang when I choose Shutdown Ceedo" from the easy-access menu. The shutting down screen just keeps going for ever and ever, and then suddenly XP pops up a message saying that the device can't be disconnected due to an error. So I then just removes the cables from the computer, which isn't a very graceful thing to do, but since there is no other option I do it anyway. :D
Well.. this has happened some times lately, and some days ago the Freeagent HDD wouldn't start anymore. After a minute or so it shows up in My Computer, but when you try to open it you just see a empty volume (0kb on the HDD). And the funny thing is that it doesn't show up as a "removable drive" anymore, but instead you find it as a "Local Disc", If I put my ear onto the surface of the HDD I can hear it sum (?) like a bee, but unfortunately no information show up on my computer. And the yellow light (on one of the screens) dims up and down all the time :p
BTW: By accident I've dropped the HDD to the floor 2-3 times (from about 30-50cm height (?)), but never when it has been running or connected to a computer (it's been off by other words). So since the devic shows up under my computer, I got a feeling that the HDD may have loosened from the pins (2.5" HDD controller) that connects it to the slim case it's fitted into..? I know this can happen with laptops once in a while, and if so happenes, all you need to do is unscrew the hatch where the HDD is laying, and then just pushing it back onto the pins. But the warranty would be void if I do so on the Freeagent HDD, wouldn't it?

Kristoffer,
A FreeAgent drive is a real hard drive (not a flash drive), and therefore, will show up under hard disk drives in My Computer (see screenshot), and not under removable drives.
I agree that disconnecting your drive without being able to stop it correctly is not a good thing to do, but I would also have to say that dropping it on the floor was a major contributing factor to your drive's demise. Flash drives are more rugged because they have no moving parts, but a hard drive was not designed to take much abuse.
As far as opening your FreeAgent's case and reseating the drive so that the connectors mate properly - BAD IDEA. As you said, it will void the warranty. Seagate offers a five year warranty on the FreeAgent Go drives, I'd highly recommend going to Seagate's site (http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/warranty_&_returns_assistance/) and setting up a warranty return for replacement.
Let's get back on topic now.
Snoshrk, you will need to create a shortcut to the actual .exe file of the MS Office application that you want to run. Creating a shortcut (in Ceedo) to the desktop shortcut of the application will probably not work very well, if at all.
I have MS Office XP installed on my system at home. Please see the screenshot for the path to the Excel. Where my Office directory is 'Office10', yours will probably be 'Office11'. Even on a locked down PC you will have access to the Office folder and the .exe files for the Office executable files that you are allowed to run.
