I am very concerned about security and privacy issues on ceedo drivers, because I use my portable hard disk mostly on public and shared computers. So I'd like to know if you consider the ceedo environment suitable for running, on public or shared pc, applications involving bank operations, credit card transactions and so on.
For instance, what does it happen in case an application or system crash occurrs during a working session? In such case are any personal data left behind on the host pc?
Moreover, how much can my drive be considered protected against malicious software installed on the host pc (e.g. keyloggers, etc.).
Do you know any portable version of antivirus software ensuring realtime protection to a ceedo drive? As far as I know, portable antiviruses only provide drive scans on request, but no realtime protection.
Thank you in advance.

RS323,
I use my Ceedo drive on my work computer, computers belonging to friends and family, and the public library's computer with no issues at all.
Keyloggers will log anything you type, whether it is typed within the Ceedo environment or not. Well, at least keyloggers written by competent developers, that is.
There is supposedly an extension for Firefox that will prevent keyloggers from recording your keystrokes within Firefox itself, but I haven't been able to experiment with this on my work computer or the computers at the local public library because this extension requires that you have admin privileges to use it.
As far as AV software goes, yes, there are a few portable AV apps out there such as Clamwin, which you can find here: http://portableapps.com/. I have never had any issues with malware affecting my Ceedo drive in many months of use on several different public and privately owned computers. This of course is not to say that it can't happen.
While Ceedo will leave some registry entries on the host PC, they don't contain sensitive information such as your key strokes, etc. At least, I haven't been able to find any such information in the registry of my own computer after running Ceedo for any length of time in either XP or Vista.
You do have the option of caching your temp files either on the hard drive or on your Ceedo drive. It is recommended that you cache the temp files on your Ceedo drive. While this does slow things down a bit, it is more secure.
Bear in mind that the only truly secure operating system is the one that is still on the installation media, which is still in the shrink wrapped box it shipped in. Once an operating system is taken out of the box and installed on a computer, it is vulnerable and will never be completely secure. This statement is true for all operating systems; Unix-based, Linux-based, whatever. No matter how tight you lock the box down, somebody will find a way in if they are determined enough. Unfortunately, this is a simple fact of life when it comes to computers.
