When working with drive formatted with NTFS file system there are some Security issues that may prevent ceedo from running. This is mostly because the NTFS file system was never designed to work with drives that migrate from one computer to another.
The main issue is the file permissions that are set by default to allow access to the machine user only.
When Ceedo is running it requires write access to many files that are blocked buy the NTFS permissions.

To overcome these issues we can force the drive to have lower security permission, similar to what we have in FAT and FAT32 file system.

These issues are affecting ceedo when used on machine with the following configurations:
·Vista all type of permissions; Guest, User, Semi-Administrator and Full-administrator.
·XP; Guest, User.
·2k; Guest, User.

To change the security permission follow the instruction below:

1.Open the Folder option. To open the folder options you need to go to the machine's control panel and select the folder options.

To see the security permissions in the Drive properties you need to make sure that the "Use simple file sharing" check box in the View tab is unchecked.

2.Open the My Computer view and right click on the drive's icon. On the pop up window select "Properties".

3.Choose the security tab and press the "Advanced" button.

5.In the Window that opens click the "Add" button.

6. In the new window enter the word "Everyone" in the text box. and click the "Check Name" button. after Everyone has been underlined click "OK".

6. in the window that opens make sure that "everyone" appears and check the first radio button "Full control". also make sure that in the in the "Apply To" comb box "This folder, subfolders and files" is selected.

7. Click "OK" on all security related windows opened to apply the settings.

Running this procedure will solve many of the permission issues Ceedo users are encountering.
This issue is more prominent after Microsoft launched its Vista OS and its security updates.

Does This Mean That If I Go To A Hotel And Use Their Computer I Will Have These Problems But Be Unable To Correct Since I Would Not Have Administrator Rights?

Tried What You Suggested And Still Can't Load Directory. However, For Step Number 4 When I Select "edit" There Is No "add" Radio Button. However, In Prior Screen (security/advanced) There Is Both An Add And Edit Button. When I Could Not Get Add Through Your Step 4, I Went Back One Screen And Clicked The "add" Next To "edit". After Completing Remaining Steps, I Went Back To Advanced And I Can See "everyone" For Both Full Control And Read And Execute. ?seems Okay But Not Helping To Load Registry.

If you are using the hotel computer and you don't have administrator rights you will not be able to fix the permissions.

Does Not Work. Still Cannot Load Registry. Probably Why I Cannot Install Programs.

Even If I Continue Without Loading What About Problem That Selecting Some Items Such As Clicking On Icons Such As "explore" On Right Side Of Screen Sends System Into Freeze With Blinking Page.

OK, let me see if I understood it correctly. Ceedo won't run on NTFS formatted drives and I can't do anything about it if I don't have administrator privileges. If this is true then it's quite a drawback in my book since 99% of desktop computers (at least those which I work with) have NTFS formatted drives and I have only user rights on them. It kinda brings the purpose of whole Ceedo into question, don't you think?

jura123,

Your impression that Ceedo cannot run an an NTFS partition is 100% incorrect.

Ceedo is perfectly happy to run on a drive that has its partition formatted with the NTFS file system. I only run Ceedo on drives that are formatted with NTFS as it is faster and can handle partitions larger than 32 gigs.

My employers computers are locked down pretty tight and I have absolutely no problem running Ceedo at work. The building I am in has about 500 systems, including servers, and we we have to connect to database servers in various locations throughout the U.S.A. in order to do our jobs. You can probably imagine what kind of security measures a multi-national company such as the one I work for has in place on their networks.

OK, thanks for clarification. It's just that I have a problem running Ceedo on limited user computer and a friend told me that this NTFS permission is probably the issue. Since you have no problems then it has to be something else. I'll keep searching for a solution (it would be great if Ceedo had some diagnostic tool which would tell you why exactly it can't run or cause of any other problem if it occurs). Thank you!

If the host PC has NTFS drives, then a Ceedo USB stick formatted as FAT32
won't have any problems running software. I use it exclusively like that, and
it's no different to any other portable drive formatted as FAT32. So it doesn't
matter if a hotel PC has NTFS hard drives or not.
