Here is something that would prove to be incredibly useful on Ceedo,

Now a lot of windows based programs still use the old Drive letter system when installing various files (linking from and to locations), so a fair amount of programs won't Run on Ceedo if for example the program was installed on Ceedo when the drive was assigned the letter G: and then you have tried to run it from another computer which has assigned it letter H:

Now there are already work arounds using batch files and such, but wouldn't it be brilliant if Ceedo automaticaly assigned the drive the designated letter and warned you it it failed to do so.

Hell I would pay for an add-on that would do this so I didn't have to mess around with batch files or surf into disk management.

Anyone else? xD

If your software is installed into Ceedo it will work with virtual C:/ even if your real drive is Z:/

It is installed through Argo into Ceedo, but the drive was still required to be issued with the drive letter that was used when installing the program.

I thought the same as you up until that point xD

Try to use C:/ when installing the program.

This would be a fine feature indeed!

C:/ or C:\ does not instantly map to the Ceedo drive for me, im using the latest beta. A simple shortcut to C: added to the dock proves this is the case.

Hello, my IT system at my work has created a new drive M which is the drive that I had picked when I loaded the program.

How can I change this M drive on my Ceedo without reformating my hard drive?

Quoted from another poster: Now there are already work arounds using batch files and such, but wouldn't it be brilliant if Ceedo automaticaly assigned the drive the designated letter and warned you it it failed to do so.

How do i do this work around on a batch file?

Windows, not Ceedo, should automatically assign the next free drive letter to your drive when you hook it up, but if it doesn't, then take a look at this thread (http://www.ceedoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10612&highlight=drive+letter#post10612).

I think he is referring to what a fair few of us users have had issues with using Ceedo, certain programs only work when the drive is run using the same drive letter it was using when the program in question was installed, for example TrackLogs or AutoCad (newer versions).

TrackLogs works fine as long as it uses the same drive letter it was using when the program was installed (not neccesarily the same computer before you ask xD), when you try running the program on anything other than the letter that you had assigned when you installed the program, it can have all kinds of varied effects, anything from not running at all to running fine but with things missing (tracklogs loads up but then crashes when you try to do anything for example).

Now this can be on the same machine or a different machine, it doesn't really make a difference, its caused by the way the program writes various files during installation, some will specify drive letters in dll's, and if that dll is no longer the correct letter then it can't link things up correctly hence why it works only partly on the wrong letter and correctly on the correct letter.

This same thing is what causes a whole heap of various installs to appear to not work on Ceedo, when in actual fact they do but only when assigned the correct letter. Its nothing to do with missing files that are on the local machine when installed instead of the ceedo drive (most of the time)

I see, Mog.

If this is the case, Blaze1234 would have to change the drive letter of the drive that his IT department set up so he can reassign M to his own drive if this is the case. Problem is that doing this may mess up what his IT department set up.

Blaze, you may want to check with your IT department on this before you get into it. :)
