[Problem] : Unable to download Ceedo 2.1 Beta

[Method] :

I've downloaded the 2.1 beta installer from http://www.ceedo.net/ceedo/downloads/CeedoCeedoNet.exe and ran it.

[Symptoms] :

After a few seconds (20 ~ 24 seconds) of launching the file CeedoCeedoNet.exe, a standard error message box (hand icon / msgbox type 16) appears on the screen with no other output before or after the error box whose contents are:

Error downloading Ceedo® SmartPlayer

The operation timed out

[OK]

The process terminates immediately upon closing the message box.

Try running the installation directly from the site, without download...

I think that could help...

I think there was a problem with the ceedo servers or the route in between, during that duration when I tried to install Ceedo. However, it seems to be working now.

But why does the setup need access to the net? Can't I install it offline? What if I want to install Ceedo onto a drive using a PC that isn't connected to the net? What I'm saying is, is there any "offline" or "full" installer for Ceedo, like most other programs have?

Another reason I'm asking this is because, even though its installing, its extremly slow. The route/servers seem to be very busy; its taking ages to download just 1.31 MB on a 2Mbps connection.

Ceedo installation must use the net to install because it contain a file, its "job" is to direct the Ceedo installation during install to all the files which are on the net, basically the installation is a "list" pointing to the files of Ceedo on the net, but you can always download Backup & Restore, backup your existing Ceedo, and then you will be able to "install" Ceedo offline.

I still don't get it why must it use the net? Can the author(s) clarify on this?

This is the company policy. This is a legitimate request and I will discuss it with our CTO and let you know what did the company decided.
